BUSY BEES is a long established, highly reputable provider of quality Childcare in Kilkenny.

The ethos at Busy Bees is one of “Children First” and the belief that every child is a unique child, one who is constantly learning and evolving into a resilient, capable, confident individual. This ethos is achieved through the development of a Positive Partnership with parents and the provision of a child centered environment for the children at busy bees, which is sensitive and responsive to the Child’s need , feelings and interests.

We constantly strive to maintain the high standards we set, and the goals we achieve. Busy Bees provide a care programme for each stage of development which is put in place to encourage a hands on experience for children as they are guided through each day by their carer. The success of each programme depends greatly on flexibility, understanding and a balanced approach to learning through fun, games and structures schedule.

Our Staff

Staff at Busy Bees are a highly qualified and an important asset to our childcare team. All Staff have access to further training which benefits staff, children and parents. We operate a Key carer system in Busy Bees which means that the same member of staff is responsible for the same group of children on a daily basis. This promotes trust and continuity of care as the child comes to know and trust their carer. We value this relationship very highly where children feel safe, secure and loved. Parents are encouraged to communicate openly and regularly with their key carer as this is the most important person for them in the Centre.

We also take students from childcare courses on work experience which means we often exceed the ratio of carer to children.

We hold regular staff meetings to discuss areas which involve the children and their care programmes.

Manager, Supervisors and ancillary staff have all been vetted and are dedicated staff members whose experience in the childcare field sets the standards by which we operate.

A Little History

Busy Bees was set up by Aine Russell in 1997 as a Montessori school catering for children in the 3-4 year age category in Kilkenny. After constant demand from parents to expand the service to include full day care, Busy Bees Creche and Montessori was set up in Richview, Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny in 2001. Since that time we have been constantly booked as we offer a complete childcare service which caters to the needs of the children and also to that of working parents.

We subsequently won a tender with the IDA to build and operate a facility in their Business and Technology park on the Ring Road in Kilkenny. This state of the art Childcare Centre opened on the 27th September 2004.

In 2008 Busy Bees won the prestigious Enterprise Award for “Excellence in the provision of Early Childhood Learning and Care“. The Following year we went on to represent Kilkenny in the Business Awards.

Aine Russell is a regular expert contributor to the Su Nunn Show on KCLR in her capacity as Private Childcare Provider.
